Keith Lane

Keith Lane is a fourth generation Pueblo native educated in Pueblo schools. He is a 1976 East High silver cord graduate.  Besides memberships in Key Club, DECA and DE, he played defensive back for the Eagles throughout high school.  This was but the beginning of his dedication to East’s football team.  After graduation he went on to the University of Southern Colorado where he earned a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Secondary Physical Education in 1981.  He earned a Master of Arts in Education Administration in 1999 from the University of Phoenix, Colorado Springs.

During his career he was an inductee into the Greater Pueblo Sports Hall of Fame, President of the South-Central League of Athletic Directors, South-Central League President, and South-Central League Coach of the Year.  Throughout his career he made a positive impact on many coaches who either coached with him or coached against him.  As he was nearing retirement the local newspaper wrote that, “....the message he passed on to his kids is worth more than any numbers on a scoreboard . . . “.

Keith enjoyed a stellar 30-year career in Pueblo County coaching and teaching.  For the final eleven years of his career he taught and coached at East High. Keith officially retired from East in 2011.  Not content to “rest,” he immediately returned to East as assistant football coach.  He was instrumental in taking the Eagles to back-to-back state championships in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Keith is married to Vonda. Together they have two children, Halie and Demi.
