Wendell Grishow

Wendell Grishow graduated from East in 1965.  He was Senior Class President.  In 1969 he obtained his B.A. in English with a minor in German from Colorado State University Pueblo.  He received his M.A. in Elementary Administration from Western State College in 1976. 

He began his teaching career in 1969 at County High School, where he taught for 13 years.  He served as principal of Baxter Elementary from 1983-1987.  He taught first grade and second grade from 1987-1997.  He ended his career as principal of Sierra Vista from 1997-2001.

Mr. Grishow has lived a life of service.  His civic leadership includes President of Pueblo Children’s Chorale Board of Directors, Sangre De Cristo Arts and Conference Center Board of Directors, Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity Vice President/President, Bella Prima Musica Children’s Chorale Vice President/President, and Boy Scouts of America.  He was also the first two-term President of Pueblo Day Nursery Children’s Foundation and then has served many years as a Board Member.  This is a million-dollar foundation that awards grants to Pueblo County Organizations working for and with children.  He served on a D60 Strategic Design Committee, and East High Alumni Foundation chairing the marketing portion of the 50th Anniversary Celebration.  Mr. Grishow was recognized as one of the Outstanding Educators in America:  A Look at Education in the 1970’s.  Wendell has held many positions at church such as Chair of the Administrative Council/Church Council, and Chair of the Worship Committee/Altar Guild.  He also served as Adult Sponsor for middle school & high school.  He and Barbara (Marugg) have been married for 56 years and have 2 children.  Their son Rob is a 1993 East graduate and Lisa is a 1996 East graduate.  Wendell & Barbara have 2 grandchildren, Maya and Fin.
