
Blaine is an American post-punk, new wave, and alternative pop singer, songwriter, musician, multi-instrumentalist (particularly violin), writer, and performer. He is recognized for being a founding member of the group Tuxedomoon, co-founded with his college classmate, Steven Brown. Reininger has also cultivated a distinguished music and theater career, both as a soloist and as a contributor to recordings by other artists, including Durutti Column, Snakefinger, Anna Domino, Savage Republic, Paul Haig, William Lee Self’s Montanablue project, Devine & Stratton, and Steven Brown.
Following his childhood studies of the violin and guitar, as well as his music theory studies in San Francisco, Reininger has appeared on albums such as Half Mute, Desire, and Suite En Sous-Sol & Vapour Trails. Blaine was also involved in film and theatre projects, including soundtrack commissions for The Manic Man and Elektra, as well as numerous recordings available online. Blaine’s musical contribution to Stathis Livathinos' directed Danton’s Death was nominated for the Best Music of the Year award by the Athens-based entertainment guide Athinorama.
In addition to his music releases, Reininger acted in the late 1990s, including roles in “Agamemnon,” “Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod,” and several films with director Nicholas Triandafyllidis. Blaine participated in Colorado Suite and the Live In Lisbon concert. He was also part of the CD "The Hamburg Sessions."
While residing in Pueblo, he worked at The Pueblo Chieftain in 1973 as a "Copy Boy," a position no longer in existence. He also drove a cab from 1972 to 1973. He played in the Pueblo Symphony to fund his college tuition. He expresses his gratitude to his teachers, Roy Hensley at Risley, and East High teachers Mr. Buchanan, Mrs. Joy Vining, and Mr. Rendon. Blaine also extends his deep respect to Dr. Strachan at District 60 for inspiring and leading the robust music program in Pueblo during the 1960s and 1970s.
Blaine was married to JJ LaRue for 18 years, until her passing in Athens due to a heart condition. He currently lives with his 3rd wife of 21 years, Maria Panourgia, a theatre director. His son, Ian Reininger from his 2nd marriage is now 26 and studying medicine.
Blaine's younger brother, Mike, currently resides in Pueblo, while Blaine lives in Athens, Greece.
