Vernon Brewer, East High graduate of 1965, attended Liberty University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1973. He served as the Dean of Students there from 1984 to 1986 and Vice President of Student Development from 1986 to 1992. He earned a Doctorate of Divinity from North Florida Baptist Theological Seminary in 1991.
He received an honorary Doctor of Humanities from Liberty University in May 2010.
Dr. Brewer is the founder and President of World Help. This organization has served over 72 million people in 68 countries. Vernon’s visionary leadership fuels the creation and development of every facet of the organization that offers physical and spiritual restoration for individuals, families, and communities, focusing on: Humanitarian Aid and Relief, Community Development and Education and Sustainability. The group offers its resources to areas impoverished and devastated by natural disasters and war and has responded to areas affected by the Haiti earthquake, Typhoon Haiyan, in the Philippines and the current crisis in Syria/Jordan/Iraq, among many others.
Vernon travels extensively to oversee the group’s overseas efforts, invest in the growth of partners, and to introduce donors to the needs of impoverished communities around the world.
He has authored five books: The Forgotten Children; Why?; Children of Hope; Defining Moments; and Causelife.
